Press Your Luck - Michael Larson
Before the days of Who Wants to be a Millionaire and super jackpot prizes, game shows in the 80s rarely gave out prizes totally more than 5 digits. Which makes this clip of Michael Larson on the show Press Your Luck even more unique. The premise of the show is that three contestants answer multiple choice questions to win "spins" on the Press Your Luck game board, a panel with various slides showing money, prizes and the dreaded whammy. The contestant spins by pressing a button to stop the seemingly random images on the panel to get whichever prize they highlight. But Michael Larson, an ice cream truck driver from Ohio, deciphered that there was a particular pattern to the game board, and that certain spots never contained the whammy, which was the equivalent of the Wheel of Fortune bankrupt spot. Larson incredibly took over 40 spins without hitting a whammy, winning over $110,000 on the show. CBS investigated the result before finally giving Larson his prize, and changing the way the board patterns so this could not have been repeated.

5th Grader - Hungary
Clues as to what this clip is about: the contestant's name is Kellie, she is blonde, she is a country singer, and she is on the show "Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?" Before she even gets to the 5th grade question, she must answer the 3rd grade geography question - Budapest is the capital of what country? Just listening to her trying to talk out the answer will lower your IQ by 10 points. It's a happy ending at the end as she gets the answer right by copying the answer from the 5th grader beside her - basically the same way she got through high school.
